Joshua Machado is the Director of Automation & Controls at JTI, where he leads a growing and high-performing team across five core areas: Controls Engineering, Automation Technicians, Control Panels, GinManager/GinLogistics, and Delta Controls. With extensive experience in industrial automation—primarily serving the food and beverage industry—Josh has helped position JTI as a trusted full-service systems integrator known for delivering reliable, innovative solutions. 

Josh joined JTI in 2018 as a Controls Engineer and has since held progressive leadership roles including Lead Controls Engineer and Controls Engineering Manager before being appointed Director. He and his team specialize in greenfield design-build automation projects, offering end-to-end support from panel fabrication and control system design to onsite commissioning and long-term service. Under his leadership, the department has expanded both in size and in capabilities, with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and repeat business. 

A graduate of Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering, Josh is also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he served for five years. In 2023, he was recognized by Control Engineering Magazine as one of the Top Engineering Leaders Under 40, a testament to his vision, technical acumen, and leadership in the automation space. 

Josh’s leadership is grounded in values of communication, integrity, dependability, and innovation. His vision is to continue delivering exceptional results to customers and to remain their preferred automation partner for years to come. 
Originally from Arvin, CA, Josh now lives in Bakersfield with his wife and four young children. When he’s not working, you’ll likely find him spending time with his family, watching or playing baseball, squeezing in a round of golf, or tinkering with new technology.
